About These License Types

ASB: Asbestos Certification

An add-on certification that allows a contractor to perform asbestos abatement work within the scope of their existing license classification(s). This is not a standalone license.

Not authorized: Can only perform abatement within existing classification scope.

B: General Building Contractor

Authorizes construction of structures including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings requiring at least two unrelated building trades or crafts. May take prime contracts or subcontracts for framing or carpentry. May subcontract all specialty work but must hold the appropriate C license to self-perform specialty trade work.

Not authorized: Cannot self-perform specialty trade work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.) without holding the corresponding C license. Cannot contract for C-16 Fire Protection or C-57 Well Drilling without the appropriate license or subcontractor.

C-31: Construction Zone Traffic Control Contractor

Prepares or removes lane closures, flagging, or traffic diversions using portable devices such as cones, delineators, barricades, sign stands, flashing beacons, arrow trailers, and changeable message signs on roadways.

C-32: Parking and Highway Improvement Contractor

Applies and installs protective coatings, vehicle stops, guard rails, directional lines, buttons, markers, signs, and arrows on parking facilities, airports, highways, and roadways. Includes surface preparation but not repaving.

Not authorized: Does not include re-paving of surfaces.

C-39: Roofing Contractor

Installs products and repairs surfaces that seal, waterproof, and weatherproof structures using asphaltum, pitch, tar, felt, glass fabric, urethane foam, metal roofing systems, shakes, shingles, roof tile, slate, and other roofing materials.

D38: Sand and Water Blasting

Performs sand blasting and water blasting services.

D42: Sign Installation

Installs non-electrical signs.

Not authorized: Does not include electrical sign work (see C-45).

D64: Non-Specialized

A general limited specialty designation for work not covered by any other D subcategory.
